Choose Your Program
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology
Develop your professional identity and research skills through the completion of a masters’ thesis. The Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology is presented in small classes comprised of a blend of theoretical coursework and hands-on training. Field-experienced faculty prepare you to become a skilled force for healing through self-reflexivity, self-awareness and lifelong learning.
Master of Counselling Psychology (non-thesis option)
The practitioner-focused, non-thesis alternative offers a social justice-focused curriculum and a double practicum experience. You’ll receive career preparation tailored to the program that’s right for you with electives that allow you to hone your focus. Graduates receive a socially responsible foundation for counselling practice: identifying and applying goals and tasks that further social justice and foster inclusive, healthy communities.
Program Experience
Our Master of Arts and Master in Counselling Psychology programs offer a thesis and non-thesis option respectively. Both programs feature a dual practicum experience and require students to attend full time as they prepare to become socially responsible practitioners advocating for communities in need. Thesis students will put in additional hours as well as up to 8 months of hands-on training.
The curriculum includes 700 hours of clinical practicum allowing you to gain hands-on counselling experience under a clinician’s supervision. You will also engage in 150 hours of Social Justice practicum providing non-clinical assistance to agencies serving vulnerable populations.
Coursework:
The curriculum for our M.A. in Counselling Psychology consists of 59 credits spread over two years comprising fall, spring and summer terms. Coursework features a blend of theory, research, thesis preparation and practicum experiences with our community partners.

The curriculum for our counselling psychology master’s consists of 55 credits over two years comprised of fall, spring and summer terms. Coursework features a blend of theory, research and practicum experiences with our community partners.
