Our Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy is the only one of its kind in British Columbia.

It blends theory and practice, offering a rigorous exploration of traditional counselling methodologies, Adlerian psychology, and art therapy practices.

Program Experience

This program prepares counsellors to use the creative process to improve individuals’ physical, mental and emotional well-being. Students move through the program in a tight-knit cohort. Those with psychology backgrounds can hone their art skills while students passionate about art develop their behavioral skills.

The curriculum is comprised of a 700-hour clinical practicum of which 350 involve direct client contact under a clinician’s supervision. Also included: a 150-hour social justice practicum that focuses on serving vulnerable populations.

Students graduate as both art therapists and counsellors making them more marketable to future employers. To date, almost 91% have been hired before graduation.

The curriculum for our Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy program consists of 60 credits spread over two years. Courses comprise a blend of theory, research and practicum experiences with our community partners.
